Why “House of Magdala”?
So many people have asked where the name House of Magdala came from, and the truth is… it’s so much more than a boutique name.
Mary Magdalene has always been my favorite woman in the Bible. Not because she had a perfect life but because she didn’t.
Her story is one of redemption.
The world wanted to define Mary by her past, but Jesus didn’t. He met her where she was, freed her, restored her, and gave her a new purpose. She became one of His most faithful followers and was even one of the first people to witness the empty tomb after His resurrection. Her story reminds us that God doesn’t see us for where we’ve been. He sees us for who He created us to become.
That story has always spoken to my heart because, in so many ways, I see pieces of myself in Mary.
My life hasn’t always been easy. I’ve walked through trauma, abuse, foster care, 2 adoptions, heartbreak, loss, and seasons where I questioned my worth. There were moments when my past could have become my identity.
But God had other plans.
Just like Mary, I’ve experienced His grace, His healing, and His redemption. He has shown me that my past doesn’t define me, His love does. Every chapter, even the painful ones, has helped shape the woman I am today.
That’s why this boutique is called House of Magdala.
I don’t want it to be just another place to buy clothes.
I want it to be a place where every woman feels welcomed, seen, and reminded of who she truly is. A place where confidence is restored, beauty is celebrated, and grace is always greater than shame.
Whether you’ve overcome heartbreak, loss, addiction, insecurity, mistakes, or you’re simply learning to love yourself again, I hope you know this:
You are not your past.
You are not your failures.
You are chosen. You are loved. You are redeemed.
